In light of changed economic scenario and increase in the strength of cadets, the government on Tuesday approved a significant increase in the rewards offered to the National Cadet Corps (NCC).
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approved an increase in the number of awards given to the NCC cadets from the existing 143 to 243. The cash incentives in various categories also have been increased.
NCC cadets are now entitled to receive two “Raksha Mantri Padaks”, the top award, carrying cash incentive of Rs 30,000, as against one “Padak” of value Rs 20,000 earlier.
According to the new notification, four cadets will be awarded “Raksha Mantri Commendations” of Rs 20,000 each, as against three of value Rs 15,000 each earlier.
The ministry also approved a substantial increase in “DG’s commendations” from the existing 102 to 200.
The value of the 216 “Padak and Commendation Cards” now adds up to Rs 7,60,000, which is more than double the amount used to be disbursed earlier.
The monetary reward for the “Best cadet Award” in various categories have also been substantially increased.
These awards are granted during Republic Day Camp in New Delhi.
