Khan Abdullah Mohammed Aslam, a final year engineering student at Shree LR Tiwari College of Engineering in Mumbai, has just landed his dream job. Google has hired him offering a package of Rs 1.2 crore per year, and he will be posted in the search engine giant’s London office.
Congratulating its now-famous student, the college has posted on its website: “Shree L. R. Tiwari College of Engineering expresses immense pleasure to congratulate Khan Abdullah Mohammed Aslam for his placement in Google, UK, as a Software Engineer, with a package of 1.2 Cr. A proud moment for SLRTCians.”
According to a report in Times of India, Khan will join the site reliability engineering team of Google in September.
Khan had participated in some online programming challenges on a website, and he landed the big job after Google spotted him there. A few rounds of online interviews later, he got the call for a final screening at Google’s London office.
The ToI report said Khan was surprised by the offer. “I used to participate as it was fun. I did not even know that firms check programmers’ profiles on such sites,” he was quoted as saying.
He will get a Rs 54.5 lakh basic salary, and 15 per cent bonus and stock options worth Rs 58.9 lakh over four years.
