Five Kashmir journalists resign after terror threat

Coinciding with the National Press Day, five journalists working with Kashmir-based newspapers have resigned following threat from s terrorist outfit affiliated to the Lashkar e Taiba (LeT).

Terrorists have put out a list of over a dozen Valley-based journalists whom they accused of working for security agencies.

The list includes two editors of local newspapers.

Of the five journalists who have quit their job, three posted their resignation on their social media accounts.

According to the police, The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group, is behind these threats.

“The contents of the threats depict the intention of terrorists and anti-national elements. They have put the lives of people, especially media persons, in danger by publicly calling them corrupt and giving a direct threat,” the police said.

An FIR has been registered in the case and around a dozen suspects have been picked up who are currently being questioned, the police added.

The threat has also been published in a blacklisted blog and also messaging platforms, Telegram and WhatsApp, that are operated from Pakistan.
