Five held in Himachal Pradesh JOA-IT exam paper leak case

Five persons including an employee of the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (HPSSC), Hamirpur, were arrested in a paper leak case of Junior Office Assistant (JOA) (IT) examination in the state.

The examination was to be held on December 25, 2022.

According to Additional Director General, State Vigilance (SV) and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Satwant Atwal, a complaint was received at SV and ACB Police Station Hamirpur that a person named Sanjay alias Sanjeev has contacted the complainant with an offer to provide him with question papers for the upcoming JOA-IT exams for Rs 2.5 lakh.

“The facts were verified and found to be substantiated. On Friday, a trap team, along with independent witnesses, was constituted by the Vigilance team of Hamirpur. Sanjay again contacted the complainant to meet him at NIT Hamirpur and took him to the house of Uma Azad, Senior Superintendent, Secrecy Branch, HPSSC, at Housing Board Colony Hamirpur,” she stated.

Uma Azad along with her son Nikhil Azad provided the question papers and the team immediately apprehended them with cash and the question papers, she said, adding that the case has been registered at Police Station SV and ACB Hamirpur, which is being investigated further. Two more candidates who had made online payments to the tout have also been apprehended.

Meanwhile, Principal Advisor (Media) to the Chief Minister, Naresh Chauhan, while addressing media persons here on Friday said that the state government was committed to ensuring complete transparency and accountability in the examination process.

He further said that Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on the very first day of holding the reins of the state had made it clear that he would provide a transparent, accountable and responsive government to the people of the state.

Chauhan said that the Chief Minister has already made it clear that the state government would ensure that all the examinations and tests to be conducted in the state by various agencies would be held in a transparent and responsive manner.
