Bandipora: Firing stops, no loss of life in J-K militant attack

Firing exchanges stopped on Wednesday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district where militants had attacked an Army camp on Tuesday evening, officials said.

There is no report of any casualty.

Police confirmed that firing exchanges between the militants and the security forces stopped in Hajin area in Bandipora district where militants had attacked a camp of 13 Rashtriya Rifles.

Police also dispelled rumours of a suicide attack at the camp.

“Militants fired grenades at the camp and used heavy volume of automatic gunfire which was retaliated by the guards at the camp. No loss of life has been reported during this attack. The area has now been surrounded for searches,” said an officer.

On Tuesday night, terrorists fired grenades at the Army post at Hajin, triggering a gunfire.

According to reports, a group of at least eight terrorists fired under-barrel grenades at the camp that was set up in Hajin following the brutal killing of at least six residents of the area by terrorists recently.

Terrorists have reportedly been appearing in the village to threaten the residents.
