Fatehpur Sikri and Agra to dazzle with facade and theme lighting

Tourist places in all the assembly constituencies of Uttar Pradesh are being developed under the Mukhyamantri Paryatan Vikas Sahbhagita Yojana.

Two schemes have been approved for Agra, the first is for theme lighting and laser show in Geeta Govind Vatika and the second is for facade lighting in Fatehpur Sikri disclosed state Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh here on Wednesday.

Agra has many a place of tourist importance. Among them, the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Fatehpur Sikri are listed as UNESCO sites. Apart from these, there are many other important tourist destinations including Geeta Govind Vatika and Bateshwar.

Under the Mukhyamantri Paryatan Vikas Sahbhagita Yojana, facade lighting will be done at Fatehpur Sikri at a cost of about Rs 2.66 crore. Similarly, there will be a theme lighting and laser show in Geeta Govind Vatika costing about Rs 4.20 crore.

The state tourism and culture minister said under the Mukhyamantri Paryatan Vikas Sahbhagita Yojana, public representatives, institutions and organisations could be promoters. The government will contribute 50 per cent of the amount spent on the proposal and any individual or organisation can contribute 50 per cent.

Similarly, in the proposals that will come from the public representatives, the government will give 50 per cent of the amount and the public representatives will have to give 50 per cent. Under the scheme, the most important places in each assembly constituency or less known tourist places will be identified and developed as high-level tourist destinations.

He emphasised that the state government is trying to ensure that more and more people enjoy tourism. This will happen only when tourism options are available near the people. For this purpose, preparations are being made to develop tourist places in all the assemblies. It will result in an increase in economic activities and employment opportunities in the state.
