Devender Yadav slams Atishi for comparing Kejriwal to Lord Ram

Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav on Monday slammed Chief Minister Atishi for comparing her predecessor Arvind Kejriwal with Lord Ram calling it “sycophancy”.

After assuming the charges of her duties, Atishi said, “Today I have taken over as the Chief Minister of Delhi. Today, I have the same pain in my heart as Lord Bharat had when Lord Shri Rama went to exile from Ayodhya for 14 years and Lord Bharat had to take over the governance of Ayodhya. Just as Bharat ruled Ayodhya by keeping Lord Shri Ram’s ‘khadaun’ for 14 years, in the same way I will run the Delhi government for the next 4 months.”

Reacting sharply to her statement, he said, “CM Atishi equating Kejriwal, who spent over five months in jail without getting bail on corruption charges in connection with the liquor scam before the Supreme Court granted him bail with stringent condition, to Lord Ram is the depth of sycophancy. Her primary concern seems to be to whitewash the corruption of the former CM, and not the welfare of the people.”

In an apparent reference to the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, he said, “Kejriwal’s vanvas will be forever as Delhiites have made up their mind to banish him from the political landscape of the capital. Atishi would have to wait endlessly for his return to the CM chair.”

“Atishi’s lopsided priority as CM was quite evident from her declaration that she has kept the CM’s chair vacant expecting Kejriwal to return to power after four months. It is only a political drama and a clear indication that she was just a dummy CM with Kejriwal still controlling the reins of power,” Yadav charged.

In fact, he added, “Atishi’s assertion is a clear message that the welfare of the people and solving the problems of the capital is least of her priorities as her focus would be to get the corrupt leaders of AAP like Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia back in power.”
