Dense fog in Delhi causes delay in train timings

Dense fog in the Nation’s Capital caused delays in trains. The Northern Railway has alerted that the Darbhanga-New Delhi train is 2.34 minutes behind schedule. The 12367 Bhagalpur-Anand Vihar Terminal is five hours behind schedule.

In addition to this, numerous trains are reportedly running late.

The Meteorological Department of Delhi defines very dense fog as having visibility of fewer than 50 metres or less.

Among the trains running late, according to Northern Railway, is Saharsa-New Delhi Vaishali Express which is late by three and a half hours.

Trains and flights can be cancelled or diverted due to the low visibility due to the fog. Satellite images showed a thick layer of fog in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

The Meteorological Department had said, in a statement on Monday, that due to low tropospheric level moisture and light wind over the Indo-Gangetic plains, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh are likely to experience rain and thundershowers during the next three days. There is a possibility of dense to very dense fog.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that driving on roadways may be challenging and that there is a chance that vehicles will collide. According to the meteorological department, prolonged exposure to fog can make it difficult for persons with asthma, sore throats, and coughs to breathe. Additionally, it may irritate or infect the eyes. On lengthy journeys, he encouraged the passengers to carry necessities like water and medicine.
