Spiritual Guru Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev recently underwent an emergency brain surgery at a private hospital in Delhi, and is now recovering well, the Isha Foundation said on Wednesday.

In a post on X on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned, “Spoke to @SadhguruJV Ji and wished him good health and a speedy recovery.”

Sadhguru has uploaded a video on his social media handle while he is seen on the hospital bed, and is saying, “The Apollo Hospital neurosurgeons cut through my skull to try and find something but found nothing, totally empty. So they gave up and patched it up. Here I am in Delhi with the patched-up skull, but no damaged brain.”

According to the Isha Foundation’s official update on the matter, on March 17, his neurological status rapidly worsened along with weakness of the left leg and marked worsening of headache with recurrent vomiting.

He was finally admitted, and a CT scan revealed a marked increase in brain swelling and life-threatening shift of the brain to one side.

Managed by a team of doctors comprising Dr Vinit Suri, Dr Pranav Kumar, Dr Sudheer Tyagi and Dr S Chatterjee, he underwent an emergency brain surgery within a few hours of admission to relieve the bleeding in the skull. Sadhguru was weaned off the ventilator post-surgery.

Sadhguru has shown steady progress and his brain, body and vital parameters have improved to normal levels, while his recovery has been much better than expected, the Foundation said, mentioning doctor’s remarks, as a part of the official update on Sadhguru’s health.
