Every year on December 28, the Indian National Congress (INC) celebrates its foundation day. This year, the principal Opposition party at the Centre celebrated its 138th Foundation Day across the nation. Party leaders from All India Congress Committee (AICC) representing various state wings marked the occasion by hoisting the party’s flag.
In Delhi too, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Chaudhary Anil Kumar hoisted the Congress flag on the occasion, at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan on Wednesday, while Sewa Dal workers sang Vande Mataram and the National song to mark the event.
Chaudhary said that the Congress is an ideology which was ingrained in the consciousness of the people, and the finest example of this belief was the massive support received from the people for Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.
He said the Congress party, which was established on December 28, 1885, is the oldest political movement in the world, which fought for the freedom of the country, and marshaled the country to development and progress after gaining Independence.
Besides DPCC president, other prominent leaders including ex-Member of Parliament Ramesh Kumar, Chairman of the DPCC Communications Department Anil Bharadwaj, Chief Organizer of Sewa Dal Sunil Kumar, District and Block Congress Committee presidents and other senior leaders were present on the occasion.
Chaudhary Anil Kumar said that the Congress has always fought against injustice and atrocities, and the Bharat Jodo Yatra was to mend fences divided by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the basis of caste and religion, creating fear and uncertainty among the people.
He said that Congress fought for the freedom of the country, with its leaders and workers making unforgettable sacrifices, but people who played no role in the freedom movement and rebuilding of the nation are now pulling the country backward through divisive politics, without addressing pressing problems like unemployment, inflation, price rise, and lives ravaged by economic distress.
He further added that Rahul Gandhi is undertaking the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Jammu and Kashmir to spread the message of love, peace and compassion, and the overwhelming support he received from people of all walks of life throughout the journey showed that people want to live in peace and harmony. But, the Modi Government has ruined the lives of the people by mixing religion, faith, language, culture and other issues in the everyday lives of the ordinary people to create tension and uncertainty.
