A man threw chilli powder on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal outside CM’s chamber in Delhi secretariat on Tuesday.
The suspect, identified as Anil Sharma, has been taken into custody by the Delhi Police.
According to media reports, a man entered the secretariat with chilli powder in a matchbox. Kejriwal’s spectacles reportedly broke in the attack and he was immediately rushed to doctors as the chilli powder got into his eyes.
Was right behind CM @ArvindKejriwal at the Secretariat when he was suddenly attacked, on 3rd floor right outside his office. Shocking lapse of security. Is this Delhi Police’s incompetent effort to protect an elected CM?

The official Twitter handle of the Aam Aadmi Party confirmed the attack and also slammed the Delhi Police for the “serious security lapses”. The party said even the Chief Minister was not safe in the national capital.
“Dangerous attack on Delhi CM @ArvindKejriwal.
Serious security lapses from Delhi Police. Even the Chief Minister is not safe in Delhi,” AAP tweeted.
AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj tweeted that there will be a press conference today in connection with the attack on the CM.
“Press Conference 3:45 PM today about attack on CM Kejriwal right in this cabin at Delhi Secretariate today,” he tweeted.
