Days after former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi said “anything could happen” on a tie-up with the Bharatiya Janata Party in Chhattisgarh, the Janta Congress chief on Saturday took a U-turn saying that “he will by no chance support the saffron party”.

He further said the Janta Congress Chhattisgarh and Bahujan Samaj Party alliance was capable of forming a government in the poll-bound state.

Jogi’s comments came after a joint rally by him and BSP chief Mayawati in Chhattisgarh.

“Neither will I extend support to BJP nor take support from them. Our alliance (Janta Congress Chhattisgarh and BSP) is capable of forming a government,” Ajit Jogi was quoted as saying by ANI.

According to media reports, Jogi had earlier said that “he will not rule out anything, even a tie-up with the ruling BJP”.

Congress suffered a huge blow after Mayawati ruled out any alliance with the party in the assembly elections and tied up with the Janta Congress Chhattisgarh.

She also announced that Ajit Jogi would be the chief minister if their alliance comes to power in the state.

She further announced that BSP will not tie-up with the Congress for the assembly elections in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh as well.

Mayawati has time and again maintained her stand that the BSP will tie up with only those parties which are ready to allocate a respectable number of seats to her party.

Earlier in July, Mayawati had warned the Congress leaders of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh of not forming an alliance if not given a respectable number of seats.
