CRPF Inspector, 3 policemen killed; CRPF commandant among 8 injured in Handwara encounter

A CRPF officer and three policemen were killed on Friday when one of the two terrorists, presumed killed in an encounter in Handwara, got up and started firing at the security forces. A commandant of CRPF and seven other security force personnel were injured in the ongoing encounter.

Reports said that an inspector of CRPF and a policeman was killed and five security personnel injured.

When a joint search team of Army, police and CRPF went to retrieve the bodies of terrorists amid a lull, one of the two terrorists stood up and fired indiscriminately.

Inspector Pintoo of 92 battalion of CRPF and a policeman of SOG Handwara, Naseer Ahmad, succumbed to injuries at a hospital, reports said.

Meanwhile, clashes broke out near the encounter site between the security forces and stone pelters.
