Muhammad Mubarak, who was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday in connection with a case registered by the Central agency suo motu against members of the banned organisation, Popular Front of India (PFI), was remanded to NIA custody for five days.
The special NIA court in Kochi sent Advocate Mohammed Mubarak AI, a resident of Edavanankkad in Ernakulam district to NIA custody for five days .The NIA told the court that Muhammad Mubarak is a member of the PFI hit squad and the main weapon trainer of the banned organisation.
Mohammed Mubarak, a practicing advocate of Kerala High Court was arrested by the NIA following the raid conducted by the Central agency on Popular Front centers last Thursday.
The NIA has stated that he is a member as well as trainer of the PFI’s martial arts and hit squad. It said the squad was engaged in training and raising gangs to target leaders of other communities. During the NIA raid on Thursday, several weapons including an axe, sword kept hidden in a badminton racket bag were recovered from his house.
Some young lawyers who were friends with Mubarak in Kochi city and some online journalists are also under investigation by NIA.
