Cornering the BJP government on various charges like no survey of damaged crops and the loss to farmers due to unseasonal rain and hailstorm, continuous paper leaks of school exams, strike by Tehsildars and other allegations, the opposition Congress today walked of the House during the ongoing budget session of the MP State Assembly here.
Congress MLA Kunal Chaudhary brought damaged wheat crops with him to the Assembly to portray the quantum of loss to farmers. More than 20 districts of MP have witnessed unseasonal heavy rain, squalls and hailstorms in the past week, resulting in heavy damage to crops, which were almost ready to be harvested.
Leader of Opposition Dr Govind Singh alleged that the strike of Teshildars is part of a government conspiracy so that survey of the damaged crops could not be done, thereby saving the government from paying compensation to the farmers.
Dr Singh also charged that papers of Class XII and other classes were being leaked on a regular basis, jeopardizing the future of studious and honest students. He demanded that the entire fees of students be returned.
Subsequently the Congress MLAs walked out of the house raising slogans against the BJP government.
Outside the house, Congress MLA Jaivardhan Singh said farmers of the state were in severe distress due to crop loss but no minister of the state government had visited any area where crop losses were reported. He charged that the government was not carrying out any kind of survey.
Singh demanded that the loan of farmers be waived off because of the loss to their crops and adequate compensation be paid to them.
