Reiterating its support to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Congress party on Tuesday snubbed Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central government for allegedly misusing the Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax Department against political opponents.

AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, who reached here this morning to take stock of the ongoing preparations for 85th Plenary Session of the Congress, said the ED raids are clearly a political vendetta. The BJP will not be able to intimidate us by using CBI and ED, he said.

The Congress is not going to run away from anything. We believe in the law and will fight according to the law, he stated.

Venugopal further claimed that the party leadership already knew that something like this was going to happen. Accusing the BJP of trying to disturb the Congress plenary session, Venugopal said that everyone in India know that whenever an election or a Congress event approaches, the ED drops in to create disturbance.

Grand old party’s top executive leader arrived this morning to oversee the preparations for the mega event set to begin on 24 February. Praising the arrangements, he said, all the preparations for the convention have been completed.
