Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal on Wednesday said Himachal Pradesh has gone ten years back on the development front in the Congress rule.

Dhumal, who was declared as the BJP’s CM face in HP on Tuesday evening, said the Congress government was totally incompetent in functioning and indifferent to development.

He said once upon a time HP was number one in ranking and was bestowed with 85 awards. “It has now dropped to 24th position.”

He said the Congress government had failed on all grounds and it is only mafia that has flourished under their regime.

“Over the years, their performance has been dismal and they have failed miserably to implement poll promises, work for the welfare of the public and the state. Instead perils such as drugs and mafia across sectors have risen exponentially,” he said.

The former CM said the Congress party had released a similar manifesto in 2012 polls, making promises for every section. However, in five years, they failed to make a difference in anyone’s life.
