Congress only option for a change Delhiites looking for: Kharge

Ahead of the Assembly elections in Delhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said on Wednesday that Delhiites want a change of government in the national capital and his party is the only option for them to fulfill their needs.

The Congress chief wrote in a post on X, “Every need will be fulfilled. Congress is necessary in Delhi. The two crore people of Delhi now want change and for that they are looking towards their old ally- the Congress party.”

He made a mention of the Pyari Didi Yojana and Jeevan Raksha Yojana which the party promised to implement if the it came to power in the national capital. Under the Pyari Didi Yojana, the Congress party promised to provide Rs 2,500 monthly allowance to every woman and Rs 25 lakh health insurance cover for all the residents under Jeevan Raksha Yojana.

Kharge called Delhi a symbol of India whose prosperity is the prosperity of the country.

“Congress is the only option to return public welfare, social justice and economic and infrastructure development of Delhi,” the Congress chief said as he appealed to the people of Delhi to vote for his party.

Elections to the 70-member Assembly in Delhi are scheduled to be held on February 5 and the counting of votes will take place on February 8.

In the 2020 Assembly polls, the AAP won 62 Assembly seats and the BJP eight constituencies while in 2015 polls, the AAP bagged 67 seats and BJP won only three seats.

The Congress drew a blank on both the Assembly polls.
