In an indirect reprimand to Rajasthan Congressmen on the occasion of party’s 138 foundation day, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, former deputy CM of Punjab and the state in-charge, on Wednesday said that the decision of the high command was paramount, and as a disciplined soldiers of the party, it was the duty of all Congressmen to respect the decision.

“The leaders and workers will first have to work to strengthen the party by following discipline. It is not important whether to get a ticket or not in the election,” he said while addressing a Pradesh Congress Party (PCC)-led one-day convention to mark the party’s 130 foundation day here.

Randhawa, who was overwhelmed by the Congress’ victory in the Sardarshahar assembly bypoll last month, said, “I  will call wrong as wrong and right as right, because the Congress party runs from the heart and not from pressure. The party has a golden history, since the independence of the country; the Congress leaders have done the work of strengthening the country”.

He said Mr. Rahul Gandhi had started Bharat Jodo Yatra in which all Congressmen have to provide their significant contribution. He said that under the leadership of RaGA, all Congressmen should play their part in the task of strengthening the society.

Stating that he was a small leader in the party and whatever he attained in politics because of the party, Randhawa humbly said, “I am in-charge of Rajasthan, but I am small. I will be available wherever a worker wants. So whatever is right, that decision will be implemented”.

Interacting with the media outside Birla Hall, he said the district and block level organisational vacancies would be filled up early next year. Randhawa skipped a volley of questions related to CM’s issue in which Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot were doing mudslinging for the last 30 months.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said, “The Opposition BJP is spreading rumours against the Congress government in the state, but they (BJP) should also know that the Congress government will be formed again in the state in the next assembly polls-2023”. .

Gehlot said that the suggestions given by all Congressmen, PCC delegates, office bearers were important and the sentiments expressed in the convention will be included in the budget. He said that taking a pledge to work for the formation of the Congress government again in the state in the year 2023, all the Congress leaders and workers should visit every village and village and ensure that no section is deprived of the public welfare schemes of the state government.

Among others who spoke and gave their suggestions for the Gehlot government’s next year fiscal budget 2023-24 included PCC President Govind Singh Dotasara, Harish Choudhary, MLA and incharge of Punjab, RS MP Neeraj Dangi, and a number of MLAs.
