Congress brings out ‘Black Paper’ to counter Modi govt’s ‘White Paper’ on 10-yr performance

To counter the Centre’s planned ‘White Paper’ on UPA government’s 10-year performance between 2004-14, the Congress on Thursday brought a ‘Black Paper’ to highlight the failures of Narendra Modi government.

“Today we are bringing out a ‘Black Paper’ against the government. Whenever PM Modi presents his views in Parliament, he hides his failures…Therefore, we want to bring out a Black Paper and tell the public about the failures of the government,” Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said while addressing a press conference.

Kharge said that unemployment is the biggest issue facing the country but the never talks about it. He also accused the central government of stopping MNREGA funds of the non-BJP states.

“Even in a state where there is no BJP government, the central government does not give MNREGA money, then later says that the money was released but it was not used,” he said.

The Congress president also highlighted the issue of inflation and accused the Modi government of not making efforts to control it.

“Inflation has increased a lot in the country, but instead of reducing it, PM Modi keeps comparing it with Congress. If Modi government wants, it can control inflation on daily essential items including pulses, oil. But PM Modi imports things from outside to benefit his friends,” Kharge said.

Kharge also sought to highlight the issue of farmers and claimed PM Modi did nothing despite promising to double their income.

“Farmers sat on strike for a year against the three black laws, but the government did not care about them. PM Modi had told the farmers that you will get more MSP and the income will double, but did nothing,” he said.

“PM Modi does not say anything about unemployment, inflation and farmers in Parliament,” Kharge added.
