Delhi Congress president Anil Chaudhary on Sunday claimed that he was unable to exercise his franchise in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls as his name was missing from the voters’ list.

Chaudhary claimed that his name was neither on the voters’ list nor in the deleted list.

He found his name missing from the list when he reached the polling booth to exercise his franchise in the Dallupara area.

“My name is neither in the voter list nor in the deleted list. My wife has voted. Officials are checking it,” said the Delhi Congress president who arrived at a polling booth to cast his vote.

Holding the AAP and BJP responsible for it, he alleged that not only his name but names of lakhs of voters have been deleted from the list.

According to him, just like Uttar Pradesh, in Delhi, names of many voters of the Dalit and Muslim-dominated areas have been deleted.

He said he had cast vote in the earlier elections and being a former MLA, is a marked voter, whose name cannot be struck off, but despite that his name has been deleted.

The Delhi Congress chief said he lodged a complain to the Election Commission but of no avail.

Many voters have been continuously making calls to the Congress control room alleging that their names had been struck off from the voters’ list.

He said voters were being denied their right to vote in the elections and questioned the silence of Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal in this regard.

The counting of the votes for the 250 wards of the MCD will take place on December 7.
