Chhattisgarh Govt introduces “Bagless Day” In schools

In a bid to reduce study pressure on children and let them explore their hidden talent, the Chhattisgarh Government has declared Saturdays as “Bagless Day” in all government schools.

Various fun-filled activities are being conducted on Saturday in the schools for the holistic development of the children. Several activities such as sports, fancy dress competitions, debates, rangoli, painting, drama, story-telling, exercise demonstrations, cleanliness-related activities, dance, and activities related to FLN are organized in schools every Saturday.

The innovative scheme is bringing positive changes in the children. Around 100 per cent attendance in the school on Saturdays as compared to other academic days. School Management Committee members, parents, and local public representatives have also an important contribution in making these bagless days a success. Active participation in the community is seen in the school on Saturdays. Besides, they also give necessary suggestions to improve the activities.

In a bid to make the bagless day a success, the working plan for the next day is explained to the children one day before i.e. on Friday itself so that they can prepare themselves for the activities.

Government Primary School Divna remains in the headlines for its innovative works like kitchen gardening. Similarly, other activities including environmental work, cleanliness of the surroundings, community tree plantation, and fancy dress competitions are organized and games like chess, ludo, carrom, and rope race are played for the intellectual development of children. Daily newspaper reading is also done to make children more aware and knowledgeable.
