It’s a family drama played with all the ingredients of the epic battle Mahabharata. The fight for legacy in the Haryana’s prominent political family, Chautalas, has all but reached the war field with the expulsion of former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala’s elder son Ajay Singh Chautala for anti-party activities.

After Ajay’s two sons Dushyant Chautala and Digvijay Chautala were expelled from the party by their grandfather and INLD president Om Prakash Chautala for anti-party activities, Ajay famously equated his younger brother and leader of opposition Abhay Singh Chautala to Duryodhana, a major character in epic Mahabharata which was fought in Haryana’s Kurukshetra.

Ajay has publically accused Abhay of denying his two sons their due in the party as was the case with Duryodhana, the eldest of the Kauravas ( hundred sons of blind king Dhritarashtra and Queen Gandhari) who didn’t allow Pandavas an inch of land, not even the size of point of a needle.

Though Ajay didn’t take his name while blaming Duryodhana for expulsion of his two sons from the party, a hurt Abhay took up the matter with his estranged elder brother during a failed patch up meeting and asked him if it was justified to compare him (Abhay) with Duryodhana.

Though Ajay played down the matter and termed it as a slip of tongue in the in the heat of the moment, Abhay was clearly not impressed. The split in family has been widening ever since Ajay’s two sons were expelled from the party after their supporters shouted slogans at a party rally demanding Dushyant’s as party’s chief ministerial candidate in presence of senior Chautala.

Ajay’s wife Naina Chautala, who is an INLD legislator, had also indirectly blamed Abhay for this. Addressing party rallies, she has been stating that while her husband (Ajay) gave forty years of his life for the party, those in-charge for just four years (Abhay is leader of opposition for four years) are seeking the post (CM’s).

Naina even accused Abhay and his coterie of eating the INLD like the termites. She also laments “injustice” done to two her two sons and implores party workers to be with them in this hour of crisis.

Ajay and Naina’s two sons, Dushyant and Digvijay have been asking their supporters to be ready for the big battle ahead as the one needs to snatch his due rather than beg for the same.

On his part, Abhay claims to have the backing of his father (Om Prakash Chautala) and refuses any role in the who affair by claiming it was Chautala senior who cracked the whip by expelling Ajay and sons by putting party discipline above family members.

He claims to have taken up active role in the INLD in order to fulfil his family responsibility following imprisonment of senior Chautala and Ajay in a recruitment scam. Both Om Prakash Chautala and Ajay are serving 10-year imprisonment.

While senior Chautala was on parole when supporters of his two grandsons indulged in alleged indiscipline, Ajay is currently on two-week parole and intends to make ground for the big fight against the injustice done to him and his two sons.
