The wedding of Tej Pratap, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, was met with chaos as an unruly crowd breached the cordon separating the pandal meant for VIPs and the media, and started looting food items.

Tej Pratap got married to Aishwarya Rai, daughter of RJD MLA Chandrika Rai, in Patna on Saturday.

According to reports, shortly after Tej Pratap and Aishwarya exchanged garlands, a horde of people believed to be RJD supporters broke the cordon to reach the area when food was being served.

The unruly crowd, which proved difficult to be controlled, went on to upturn tables and chairs and even broke the crockery. According to reports, they took away food and also some crockery items. Soon, the entire area looked ransacked as broken crockery and upturned furniture lay scattered.

A number of party leaders, wielding sticks, made a futile attempt to chase away the intruders.

Several media persons, including cameramen, complained of having been manhandled and their equipment damaged.

Organisers had earlier said arrangement for food had been made for around 7,000 people, but it appeared that no adequate attention had been paid towards regulating such a huge number of people.
