The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will permit all Class 10 students suffering from Type 1 diabetes to bring food to the examination hall, as per media report.

While acknowledging that there is a sizeable number of schoolchildren suffering from Type 1 diabetes, the board to facilitate assistance to them will allow them to carry eatables like banana, apple, sandwich and other such items with them to the examination centre.

A student is also allowed to bring a 500 ml bottle of water inside the examination hall. The step has been taken in light of the fact that diabetic people need insulin injections at regular intervals to manage their blood glucose level.

A candidate will have to submit a certificate from a specialist along with full diabetic history and will have to provide information regarding the nature of their diabetes along with the need for snacks during the examination to the school principal.

The eatables will be kept with the invigilators at the exam centre during the exam and the candidate may ask for it when he/she feels the need.
