The Congress on Thursday demanded that Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar and CBSE Chairperson Anita Karwal be sacked in the wake of leak of the Class 10 mathematics and Class 12 economics papers.
The party is also demanding a judicial probe by a high court judge into the matter. The Delhi Police’s crime branch is investigating the alleged leak after registering two separate cases.
“Without removing Union HRD Minister Javadekar and CBSE Chairperson Anita Karwal from their current positions, a fair and impartial investigation into this paper leak issue is impossible,” said the Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala.
Earlier in the day, Javadekar had said that those behind the CBSE paper leak will not be spared and an internal inquiry besides the police investigation is also on to find out the source of the leak.
“I can assure you that the culprits behind the leak won’t be spared. The police is already on the job and just like it nabbed four people in the SSC scam, I am sure it will soon catch the culprits in this case, too. Besides, we have also constituted an internal inquiry to find out who leaked the papers,” the Minister said.
Following the reports of leak, the CBSE has already announced a re-examination for the two subjects for the respective classes.
Javadekar said he could empathise with the parents and the students who suffered due to the leak, and stressed that he would ensure that no “injustice” is meted out to around 16 lakh innocent students who would have to write their examination again.
