CBI raids 110 places across 19 states, UTs, files 30 cases in major crackdown

In a nationwide crackdown on corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday conducted searches at some 110 places across 19 states and Union Territories.

The CBI has registered around 30 separate cases relating to corruption, criminal misconduct and arms smuggling among others.

The searches began early morning in various cities including Delhi, Bharatpur, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Jammu, Srinagar, Pune, Jaipur, Goa, Kanpur, Raipur, Hyderabad, Madurai, Kolkata, Rourkela, Ranchi, Bokaro and Lucknow, and other places in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Bihar.

Earlier this month, the CBI swooped down at 50 locations in 18 different cities in a special drive in connection with banking scams across the country and registered 14 cases.

The agency teams launched a coordinated action against the promoters and directors of the companies made accused in the cases in 12 states across the country.
