In an apparent bid to counter the vitriolic attack launched by the BJP on Priyanka Gandhi since her entry into active politics, Sajjan Singh Verma, Madhya Pradesh Minister for PWD/ Environment on Sunday hit back saying, “BJP ka durbhagya hai ki unki party mein khurdure chehre hain, aise chehre jinko log napasand karte hain. Ek Hema Malini hai, usko jagah jagah shastriya nritya karate rehte hain, vote kamane ki koshish karte hain. Chikne chehre unke paas nahi hain. (It is BJP’s bad luck that they only have unattractive faces, the faces that people don’t like. There is Hema Malini who they make perform classical dance to earn votes. They don’t have pretty faces).”
“Mera ye kehna hai ki eshwar ke pradatt manav hota hai…Arey sarahna karo ki eshwar ne Priyanka Gandhi ko itna sundar banaya hai jisse mamatva, sneh jhalakta hai. Aise shabdon ka istemal karke apni garima Kailash ji aur BJP gira rahi hai,” (They (BJP) should admire the fact that god has made Priyanka Gandhi so beautiful that she reflects motherliness and compassion. Kailash ji (BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya) and BJP are lowering their dignity by using such words,” Verma added.
On Saturday, BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, in a veiled reference to the appointment of Priyanka Gandhi as the Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East, said the Congress was fielding “chocolaty” faces in Lok Sabha polls as it has a dearth of strong leaders.
“Agle Lok Sabha chunav ke maidan mein utaarne Congress ke pass mazboot neta nahi hai. Isliye woh aise chocolaty chehre ke madhyam se chunav ladna chahti hai (The Congress does not have strong leaders to field in the next Lok Sabha elections. Hence they want to fight the polls through charming faces),” Vijayvargiya said.
