The Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) on Sunday suspended the Station House Officer (SHO) as well as the In-charge of Masuri police station following the murder of BJP leader Dr. B.S. Tomar in Dasna town of Ghaziabad district on Saturday, police said.

“A punitive action had been initiated against the local police officers. An investigation has also been initiated into all possible angles of the murder,” said Naresh Kumar Jadon, SP – rural Ghaziabad.

Tomar, who was president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) local unit, was standing outside his clinic in Dasna on Saturday night when three unidentified men in a Scorpio opened indiscriminate fire on him and fled.

According to eye-witnesses, one of their associates appeared piloting the assailants to the crime spot on a motorcycle.

Tomar was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Police said he had sustained three bullet injuries — two in his abdomen and one in his head.

Calling it a “political murder”, Tomar’s brother Devendra Singh Tomar said: “My brother was a humble person. He had no enmity with anyone in the area. The patients from all communities used to come to him.”
