BJP leader Attal Gul Mir shot dead by terrorists ahead of Anantnag third phase

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Attal Gul Mir was shot dead by terrorists on Saturday evening in Verinag area of Anantnag where the Lok Sabha election is being held in three phases.

Mir was vice-president of the Anantnag district unit of BJP.

Reports said terrorists fired at him at 10 pm, pumping five bullets into his chest and abdomen. Attal Gul Mir sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the district hospital at Anantnag in South Kashmir where he died.

Mir had unsuccessfully contested the election to Dooru Assembly segment in 2008 and 2014.

Terrorists had critically injured a former BJP leader in Shopian last week.

The area was cordoned off and a hunt has been launched to nab the culprits.
