The BJP in Kerala is growing much faster in the social media space than its growth at the grassroots level.

The Kerala BJP achieved a milestone of a million followers on Facebook with its page ‘BJP Keralam’, which completed 10 lakh followers on Saturday.

Its closest rival the CPI-M has only 7,71,000 followers. The Congress in Kerala is far behind with just 3,52,000 followers

BJP state president K Surendran expressed his joy over reaching this milestone. In a Facebook post, Surendran said that no political party in Kerala has achieved this level of engagement with its official page.

He also congratulated the party’s social media team for making this achievement

The BJP was able to gain substantial followers on social media after its landslide victory in the Thrissur constituency in the recent Lok Sabha election.

The saffron party was able to come first and second slots in many other assembly segments in the Lok Sabha polls.

Two ministers in the current Narendra Modi government also boosted the party’s efforts to reach out to various sections of society, which were previously indifferent to the BJP.

The party leadership feels that the Modi factor played a crucial role in increasing its support base and has reflected in the social media following.
