Senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur on Thursday accused Congress-led state government of discrimination against the biggest district of the state, Kangra, whereas the BJP and the Central government hold special significance to the district.

Thakur, who is a former CM, said, “It is a matter of great pride for us that the G-20 meeting is going to be held in Dharamshala, in Kangra district. This meeting has been fixed in the month of April. India is presiding over the G-20 this time under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and this decision was taken on 1 December 2022.”

Not only this, Dharamshala is also going to get the chance to host the fourth ASEAN India Youth Summit, he added.

The Central government has always worked for the progress and development of Himachal Pradesh, said he.

“Today, 98 crore have been sanctioned to Himachal Pradesh under the Smart City, out of which 9 crores each have been given by the Centre to Shimla and Dharamshala. With this, the work of road widening, overbridge, lift, retaining wall and beautification will be done in Dharamshala and Shimla,” said Thakur.

Prior to this, the Central government had approved more than Rs 250 crore to Himachal Pradesh under Smart City and it led to unprecedented development in Dharamshala and the state under the Smart City scheme, he said, expressing his party’s gratitude to the Central government.

Meanwhile, BJP State President Suresh Kashyap constituted a special committee that will coordinate for the holding of the G-20 conference in the Kangra parliamentary constituency.

Former Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Vipin Parmar will head the committee while MP Kishan Kapoor, MP Indu Goswami, BJP State General Secretary Trilok Kapoor, Working Committee member Rajeev Bhardwaj, State Secretary Virendra Chaudhary, Vishal Chauhan, Media Incharge Rakesh Sharma, District President Chandra Bhushan Nag , Dharamshala Mayor Onkar Nehriya and Zilla Parishad President Ramesh Brar will be its members.

Kashyap said that it is a matter of pride for Himachal Pradesh that the meeting of the G20 Committee is going to be held in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh.

Under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the image of the country is getting stronger at the global level, he added.
