Asansol MP and Union minister of state for heavy industries and public sector enterprises, Babul Supriyo, in his Twitter account on Monday said that he has offered to quit from politics. He has met Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the two incidents in Asansol. Two FIRs have been lodged against him by the police.
In his tweet on Monday, he has claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has convinced him to stay and continue his fight in Bengal as a Union minister. He has also alleged that due to “dirty”politics in West Bengal his supporters have got divided and have been seriously hurting him as a playback singer of Bollywood.
Reacting to his comment on Twitter, Asansol Municipal Corporation (AMC) mayor Jitendra Tiwari, has said that the Union minister is doing another drama and if he is so keen to resign from his post then he should have tendered his resignation to the Speaker of Lok Sabha instead of meeting the Prime Minister.
Mr Jitendra Tiwari has announced on Monday that the civic body will provide compensation of Rs.10,000 each to the affected households and shops from the high power screening committee led by chairman of AMC, Amarnath Chatterjee.
Meanwhile, Mr. Proloy Roy Chowdhury, SDM Asansol (Sadar), said that Section 144 has been lifted from Asansol on Monday. “Compensation of Rs 2 lakh and a job in Municipal Corporation will be provided to the kin of the deceased. Within three days the relief will be distributed,” Mr Jitendra Tiwari added.
BJP leader and only member from Bengal of National Foundation of Communal Harmony (NFCH), which is under Union home ministry, Mr Joy Banerjee visited Bordoi and met the relatives of Mahesh Mondal at Raniganj. He also went to NSB Road, Burra Bazar and Hattolla in Raniganj and then to Asansol Railpar.
