Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was making excuses in a vain attempt to explain his photograph with absconding bank fraud accused Nirav Modi.
Responding to the PM’s speech in Lucknow on July 29, the Delhi CM said on Twitter, “The PM’s photos and closeness with people who looted the country and fled. All probe agencies failed to nab them.”
“A company formed 10 days ago got a major contract from the Indian Air Force (Its owner is the PM’s friend),” alleged Kejriwal.
“This is why there are questions in the minds of the people. Sir, you are making a vain attempt at explaining yourself,” wrote Kejriwal in his tweet.

On the second day of his visit to Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi took a dig at the Congress and other parties accusing his government of “complicity” with PNB bank fraud accused Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi.
They have been raising questions on the government’s intent of bringing back the main accused in the PNB fraud case based on the PM’s group photograph with businessmen taken at Davos in January 2018 in which Nirav Modi can be seen.
The PM on Sunday attacked the opposition for calling industrialists “thieves and dacoits” and said that he is not afraid of being seen publicly with them because his intentions are “good and clear”.
Speaking at the launch of 81 investment projects worth over Rs 60,000 crore at a mega ground-breaking event in Lucknow, the PM said, “Will we call our industrialists thieves and dacoits? They play an important role in shaping India. Of course, those who break the law will either flee the country [out of fear of law] or spend their lives in jail.”

“We have the courage to stand alongside industrialists. We do not need to meet them in closed rooms as our intent is clean and policies are clear,” he said.
On Friday, the Congress had alleged that the failure of the government in bringing back fugitives such as Mehul Choksi – who took Antiguan citizenship last year – “raises a doubt about the seriousness and bona fides of Modi government”.
