Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Saturday slammed the Chhattisgarh government for having erected five-star tents for the Gandhi family and spreading rose petals to greet them.

During his visit here to attend a programme at IIM Raipur, the Union minister said the poor do not get enough drinking water from taps in their homes but the rose petals are being spread for the Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi. It shows that this party is limited to only one family, and doesn’t do anything for the poor. The same government has also deprived 16 lakh poor families of pucca houses, he added.

He further alleged that the Congress government has brought back corruption in Chhattisgarh during the last four years. A letter from Chhattisgarh’s senior minister T S Singh Deo regarding Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana tells the truth, why is the chief minister silent on this?

Defending the ongoing ED probe and its frequent sorties against Congress leaders in Chhattisgarh, Union Minister Thakur asked why there was so much corruption and loot in Chhattisgarh. In 2014 we resolved to make the country corruption free.

The Central agencies used to take action against those who were indulging in corruption earlier too. Take the record of seven decades and see that the agencies do their work and will do so in the future as well, he added.

Alleging that the Congress leaders used to promise total liquor ban in the state, Anurag said that today their government is providing doorstep delivery of liquor. Even today only one family dominates in Congress.

On Kamal Nath’s statement that temple and mosque won’t bring employment to the youth, the Union minister asked Congress leaders why then they wear sacred thread and go around the temples.
