Legendary musician Annapurna Devi died at the age of 91 at Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai Saturday, hospital officials said.
She passed away at 3.51 am. The hospital officials added that she was suffering from age related issues for the past few years.
Padma Bhushan Annapurna Devi, who was born in Madhya Pradesh’s Maihar in 1927, was an Indian surbahar player of Hindustani classical music and she was the daughter and disciple of Allauddin Khan.
She was married to sitar maestro Ravi Shankar. She had a son with Ravi Shankar named Shubhendra Shankar, who passed away in 1992.
In 1982, she married Rooshikumar Pandya, a management consultant. Pandya passed away in 2013.
