Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will meet chief minister Mamata Banerjee in Nabanna on 19 November over a proposed anti-BJP coalition with Opposition parties.
The meeting will be significant ahead of a meeting called by Opposition parties on 22 November in Hyderabad to discuss the formation of an anti-BJP platform. Mr Naidu is likely to convince Miss Banerjee to join the broad coalition of Opposition parties against the BJP.
Last week, Mr Naidu had met All India Congress Committee general secretary Ashok Gehlot and prior to which had met a host of regional leaders and AICC president Rahul Gandhi to form an anti-BJP platform.
Miss Banerjee has also invited all anti-BJP Opposition leaders to attend a meeting at Brigade Parade ground on 19 January, 2019. Miss Banerjee, who has given a call for a BJP-free government in 2019 will likely make the best use of this occasion. She has already said that she wants to function as a catalyst in uniting the like-minded regional parties of the country.
A host of Opposition leaders have already visited Miss Banerjee. Former chief minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah had met Miss Banerjee in Nabanna on 27 July. Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao called on Miss Banerjee at Nabanna on 19 March to take ahead discussions on “federal front”.
