A major mishap was averted at the Jammu airport on Tuesday morning when jawans of the CRPF on security duty doused a fire in the area.
CRPF Commandant, Ashish Jha, said that the alertness and activeness of CRPF troops deployed at Jammu airport averted a major incident of fire that emanated from the petrol pump outside the airport.
An electric cable at the petrol pump caught fire and within no time, it turned into huge flames and the area was engulfed in smoke. Troops of 166 Battalion of CRPF deployed at the airport and patrolling the area raised an alarm. The petrol pump staff tried to douse the fire but in vain.
CRPF troops immediately called the fire tender and simultaneously tried to douse the fire with the available resources. The alertness, reaction, and courage of the CRPF troops averted spreading of the fire as a generator set and other inflammable materials were also lying near the spot.
