Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, two BJP MPs, ex-Cricketer Gautam Gambhir (East Delhi) and former Union Minister Jayana Sinha (Hazaribagh in Jharkhand), on Saturday wrote to party chief J P Nadda, asking him to relieve them of their political/electoral duties.
In a post on X, Gambhir, who has time and again been attacked by the voters of his Constituency for ‘neglecting’ it, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for giving him the opportunity to serve the people.
The BJP parliamentarian wrote, “I have requested Party President Jagat Prakash Nadda to relieve me of my political duties so that I can focus on my upcoming cricket commitments.”
He said he has had the privilege of serving the people of Bharat and Hazaribagh for the past ten years. Moreover, he has been blessed by the many opportunities provided by the PM and the home minister and the BJP leadership.
