Absconding terrorist nabbed in Rajasthan after 10 years

The Rajasthan Anti Gangster Task Force Police on Friday arrested a wanted terrorist carrying Rs 25,000 on his head, Mohammad Merajuddin, from his native Gangapur city, after 10 years of hoodwinking the cops.

The accused, son of Mohammad Niazuddin, a resident of Ward No. 18, Bajaria Railway Station, Gangapur City Police Station, was wanted by the Jaipur ATS for his involvement in terrorist activities.

Additional Director General of Police Anti Gangster Task Force and Crime Dinesh MN said in 2014, that there was a plan by a sleeper cell to carry out terrorist activities at different locations in India. In this case, a total of 13 terrorists were arrested from the Sikar, Jodhpur, and Jaipur districts of the state. Of them, 12 have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the court.

Case number 3/2014 was registered in SOG Jaipur police station under various sections of the Explosive Substances Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The captured terrorist, Mohammad Merajuddin, was absconding at the time of the incident.

On Thursday, the AGTF received information about Merajuddin arrival in Gangapur City. Based on the information, a team carried out intensive surveillance of the terrorist’s residence and surrounding areas. After the information was confirmed, he was caught with the help of CO City Babulal Bishnoi. On Friday, he was handed over to the ATS team for further action.

The ADG said Mohammad Merajuddin on the run was moving to Markas, Okhla in Delhi and various districts of Gujarat and Rajasthan.

During preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that he and his associates were in contact with Indian Mujahideen and other Islamic terrorist outfits. In 2014, he had planned to carry out terrorist incidents at various places, but before that, his associates were caught by the security agencies.
