The windshield of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s SUV was broken due to the rope used in the security circle, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate clarified on Wednesday amid stone pelting rumours.

“False news needs clarification. A huge crowd had come to meet Rahul ji, when a woman suddenly came forward to meet him, the car had to be stopped suddenly. The windshield of the car was broken due to the rope used in the security circle,” Shrinate wrote on ‘X’.

She further said that the Gandhi scion is fighting the battle for justice and country will keep him safe.

“Rahul ji is fighting the battle for justice diligently and this country not only stands with him but will also keep him safe,” she added.

Earlier reports claimed the windshield of Gandhi’s car was broken due to stone pelting by a miscreant during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra near Bengal-Bihar border.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury accused the police of overlooking the possibility of stone pelting.

“Maybe someone at the back pelted a stone amid the crowd…Police force is overlooking that. A lot can happen due to overlooking. This is a small incident but something could have happened too…,” he said.

Earlier this week, Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ entered NDA-ruled Bihar after passing through West Bengal.
