60% of Ram temple work in Ayodhya is complete: Trust

About 60 per cent of the construction work of the Ram temple here is complete and on the Makar Sankranti in 2024 the idol of Ram Lalla will be installed, claimed the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust  here on Friday.

Trust’s General Secretary Champat Rai told media persons here that about 60 per cent of the construction work of the Ram temple has been finished and exactly one year from now, on Makar Sankranti of 2024, the idols will be installed.

He said by October 2023, the construction work of the first floor of the temple would be completed and by 2024 Makar Sankranti, Lord Ramlala’s idol will be established in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.

He said according to plan, the work of Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the idol of Ram Lall will be held between January 1 and January 14, 2024.

Rai said that the construction of the temple is going on on a war footing.

“The construction work of the first floor is expected to be completed by October 2023. After this, the idol of the child form of Lord Shri Ram between the age of 5 to 7 years will be installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple,” he said.

According to the Trust officials,  the idol of Lord Shri Ram will be of 8.5 feet tall and it will take 5 to 6 months to build with stones of sky colour. Sculptures from Maharashtra and Orissa have assured that such stones are available with them.  Senior sculptors Sudarshan Sahu and Vasudev Kamat of Orissa and Ramaiya Wadekar of Karnataka are involved in this work, Rai said.

According to Champat Rai, it will also be kept in mind that on the day of Ramnavami, the Lord’s head gets the tilak of the Sun’s rays.
