Five people died and 36 were injured when a foot overbridge collapsed on Thursday evening near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CSMT) Railway Station in Mumbai, said the Mumbai Police.
The Disaster Management Unit (DMU) of BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) has stated that five people have died in the incident where part of a foot overbridge near CSMT railway station collapsed.
Mumbai Police informed that the number of injured has risen to 36, including 2 with critical injuries.

According to the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), one team from the Regional Response Center (RRC) Mumbai has been rushed to the spot while an NDRF team has been moved from the Andheri centre, informed the NDRF
According to the Mumbai Police, the foot overbridge connecting CSMT platform 1 north end with BT Lane near Times of India building collapsed during the rush hour. Injured persons are being shifted to hospitals.
The traffic on the busy route has been affected and commuters have been advised to use alternate routes. Senior officers from the administration have reached the spot.
“The bridge was of BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation). However, we’re extending all our supports to the victims. Railway doctors and personnel are cooperating with BMC in relief and rescue operations,” said Ministry of Railways.
