Four terrorists were killed in an encounter in Jammu on Wednesday morning and a cache of arms and ammunition, including an American M-4 rifle was recovered from them.

The encounter took place at some distance from headquarters of the 16 Corps of the Army at Nagrota.

ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh confirmed that four terrorists carrying arms and ammunition to Srinagar in a truck were intercepted at Sidhra in Jammu resulting in the encounter.

A joint team of Army, CRPF and J&K Police cordoned the area.

ADGP said seven AK-47 rifles, one M4 rifle, 3 Pistols along with other ammunition were recovered.
The truck driver managed to escape and a massive search operation has been launched to trace him and truck’s owner is yet to be identified.

The truck was going from Jammu to Srinagar when it was intercepted and terrorists opened fire at the security forces who started searching the vehicle.

ADGP said that besides arms and ammunition, various other items including pouches and medicines have been recovered from the bags of terrorists. The recovered material would help identify whether the killed terrorists were Pakistanis or local Kashmiris, he said.
