2 school students dead as boat capsizes in Maharashtra

A boat carrying about 40 school students capzised in the Arabian Sea off Dahanu coast in Palghar district of Maharashta on Saturday.

According to media reports, two students have reportedly died, while 32 have been rescued till now. Rescued children have been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

The Indian Coast Guard along with local administration are conducting Search and rescue operations to locate the missing students, said media reports.

The boat was two nautical miles from the shore when the incident occurred.

District Collector Prashant Narnaware had informed media that the incident occurred this morning off the Dahanu coast.

“Massive rescue and relief operations are underway and District Superintendent of Police and local officials are supervising the operations,” Narnaware said.
