Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Azam Khan, former municipal chairman Azhar Ahmed Khan, retired police Circle Officer (CO) Aale Hasan and contractor Barkat Ali have been found guilty in the case of assault, abusing, threatening and criminal conspiracy by entering the house in Dungarpur locality of Rampur here on Saturday.
The quantum of punishment will be announced on March 18.
District Government lawyer Amit Saxena said that MP-MLA Sessions Court Judge Dr Vijay Kumar has declared SP leader Azam Khan, former municipal chairman Azhar Ahmed Khan, retired police officer Ale Hasan and contractor Barkat Ali guilty.
The court took all the accused into custody and sent them to jail. It is worth mentioning that SP leader Azam Khan is lodged in Sitapur jail, while former Municipal chairman Azhar Ahmed Khan is lodged in Bijnor jail.
The court has found the accused guilty under Sections 452, 504, 506 and , 120B of IPC.
Due to lack of evidence, the court has acquitted three accused including SP state secretary Omendra Singh Chauhan.
In 2019, 12 cases were registered for eviction of Dungarpur Colony of Ganj police station area. All these cases were registered by the people living in the colony.
In one of these cases, Basti resident Ehtesham had also filed a case at Ganj police station. In this, he accused former SP Municipal chairman Azhar Ahmed Khan, contractor Barkat Ali, retired CO Aale Hasan, Farman Nasir, Jibran Nasir, SP State Secretary Omendra Singh Chauhan of allegedly breaking into the house, assaulting, abusing, committing robbery and criminal conspiracy.
Apart from this, Azam Khan was accused of hatching a criminal conspiracy. The hearing of this case was completed in the court on March 4.
