When looks can fall

One of the most irritating of habits that many men, young and old, have is ogling at girls. While this does not precisely fall in the category of eve-teasing, it can leave one very uncomfortable. Many girls do retaliate by challenging these men, who often are old enough to be their fathers.

This phenomenon is very common in public transport, including the Metro, where these “oglers” range themselves at the entrance to the women’s coach, their heads turned towards the women. Often, security personnel shoo them back but there is little they can do unless the men “cross the line” and are found standing inside the women’s compartment. But this habit can also have some hilarious moments, a colleague recalled.

“Falling flat for someone” literally came true for a young lad with a glad eye, the colleague narrated. Out shopping in South Extension-II, the youth found one too many girls to look at. Soon, a particularly good-looking girl passed by and he could not help staring at her.

Even though he was in the company of two young girls, the young man locked his eye on her and, as the girl moved away, craned his neck around to continue viewing the girl. Quite oblivious of where he was going as he stared at the girl, he probably missed a step and fell flat on the road. Peals of laughter from the girls accompanying him followed the fall.  Obviously, no one, least of all his friends, had any sympathy for the lad.
