4th Indo-Bangla Movie Festival, 2023 draws to a close

Three days of glitz and glamour came to a close on Sunday evening at Siri Fort Auditorium here in the National Capital where the 4th Indo-Bangla Movie Festival was held.

Hosted by Purple Touch Creatives, the much-appreciated three-day festival was applauded by all those who attended it.

The chief guest of the festival, Shaban Mahmood, Press Minister for Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi was in attendance on the occasion along with Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh Md Shafiul Alam.

Among the celebrities who attended the event were National Award winners Gautam Ghose and Neelanjana Ghose. Both were given a special honour and were joined on stage for an hour-long engrossing filmmakers’ perspective on the screenplay and their personal anecdotes, by veteran director Kamaleshwar Mukherjee.

Also in attendance there was Bangladeshi actor Chanchal Chowdhury whose award-winning film Hawa was screened with great response from all present and they all were left moved by his impromptu rendition of Ami daan die kinechhi Bangla.

The event was also graced by renowned celebrities like Payal Sarkar, director Manjul Baruah, Dr. Jahanara Begum, Boloram Das many others and a musical performance was done by Ila Maa and Ayushi in honour of Gautam Ghose and Neelanjana Ghose.

There was also a special appearance by renowned Bollywood actor Rajat Kapoor whose film Anur was a crowd favorite.

Director Gautam Ghose presented his critically acclaimed documentary ‘Ray’ based on the life and career of Satyajit Ray at the festival which was highly praised and the film Jhilli which was produced by him and marks the directorial debut of Ishaan Ghose, his son.

Festival goers were also given a rare treat with the screening of the film Raahgir also directed by Gautam Ghose, which was the second time the film was being screened in theatre.

The festival wrapped up with the film Lokkhi Cheele which had in attendance father and son acting duo Kaushik Ganguly and Ujaan Ganguly, both of whom entertained the audience, giving the perfect ending to three days of cinematic excellence.

Event Director Asish Ranjan Das of Purple Touch Creatives ended the festivities with the promise of more Movie Festivals coming very soon.
