Despite receiving mixed reviews from both audience and critics, Abhishek Varman’s Kalank is doing good business at the box-office not just in the domestic market but also internationally.

Kalank opened with the biggest opening day business at Rs. 21.60 crore despite releasing mid-week (on a Wednesday). Its first day business opening superseded films like Kesari, Gully Boy and Total Dhamaal. The film, having released on 4000 screens across the country, however, has been losing its momentum within the first week since release.

On the second day, the film’s business dropped and did not see much growth on Good Friday (3rd day since its release), a holiday, either.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the film’s business on Twitter.

However, the film is still expected to pick up business on the weekend by 30-40%.

According to a BoxofficeIndia report, the film has got its business majorly from metropolitans such as Mumbai, Delhi etc. but it is not performing as expected in the Hindi belt, including East Punjab.

Its total business as of now is Rs. 44.65 crore.

Being touted as one of the most expensive films, with a cost of Rs.150 crore in cost of production, we will have to see if the film will recover even fifty percent of its business.

Kalank, starring Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt released on 17th April 2019.
