After Vivek Agnihotri’s The Tashkent Files had a successful run at thetres across the country, the filmmaker has decided to work on a new project titled The Kashmir Files.
The film will be based on the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus, Agnihotri said.
In a public announcement on Twitter, the Buddha in a Traffic Jam fame director stated, “Presenting ‘The Kashmir Files”. Next year, same time, on our 73rd Independence anniversary, we will bring you the unreported story of the most tragic and gut-wrenching genocide of Kashmiri Hindus. Please bless our team as it’s not an easy story to tell.”
The filmmaker also shared a poster of the film, which featured a map of the state of Jammu and Kashmir marred with barbed wire all across. The poster also carries a tagline that says, “The Right To Truth Continues.”
Vivek’s last release The Tashkent Files revolved around the mystery behind the death of former Indian PM Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1966, soon after he signed the Tashkent Agreement between India and Pakistan to end their 1965 war in Uzbekistan.
The Tashkent Files featured Naseeruddin Shah, Pallavi Joshi, Shweta Basu, Pankaj Tripathi, Mithun Chakraborty, Vinay Pathak and released on 12 April 2019.
The Kashmir Files is slated to release in August 2020.
